Six processes, eight industries
one quote path.
Plastic Alternatives is a Minnesota custom plastic component manufacturer that has served manufacturers since 1989. We built their site around six molding and forming processes, eight industries, and an engineering resource library that leads to a quote.
The brief
Plastic Alternatives runs six different molding and forming processes and sells into eight industries, so a visitor arriving with a part rarely knows which method fits it. The site has to explain each process on its own terms, show where the company is certified under ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 13485:2016, and still get an engineer to a quote without making them settle on a process first.
What we built
We gave each process its own page and each industry its own page, then built a resource layer around them: a design guide, material comparison, tooling transfer, FAQ, and calculators for cost, weight, cycle, and shrink. A free DFM review page sits between the reference material and the quote form, so someone unsure of the method can send a part and be told which one fits.
- Six process pages — injection molding, medical molding, thermoforming, plastic fabrication, rotational molding, and profile extrusion each get their own URL.
- Eight industry pages — medical and life sciences, industrial and OEM, consumer, transportation, defense and aerospace, building, recreation, and electronics.
- Engineering resource library — design guide, material selection, tooling transfer, and FAQ, grouped under one resources index.
- Part calculators — a dedicated calculators page covering cost, weight, cycle, and shrink.
- Free DFM review into the quote — a page for sending in a part or print for a manufacturability check, sitting alongside the quote form.
- Company video with a fallback — a self-hosted 2:03 overview with a plain download link for browsers that cannot play it.
Every page is custom-coded and served from Cloudflare's edge — no WordPress, no plugins to patch. Changes run through a care plan. See what a build costs or the rest of the portfolio.
Worth a closer look
Process-first navigation
Every one of the six processes gets a full page, so a search for one method lands somewhere specific.
Calculators in the library
The resources section carries part calculators for cost, weight, cycle, and shrink alongside the written design and material guides.
Two ways to start a quote
The quote page and the free DFM review page give engineers two ways in, whether or not the method is settled.
